The receipt is printed, clear and long, But Mary Lou says the label’s wrong. "I’m just a Republican," she starts to claim, Shifting the weight and dodging the name.
The hat was worn, the gear was shown, A blind devotion widely known. But now the "maga" tag feels tight, So she steps back into the light.
Psychologists call it a mental shield, Where pride refuses to ever yield. To admit a mistake is a heavy cost, When identity is what might be lost.
So history is rewritten, the facts are blurred, Despite every loud and fanatical word. Though the documentation is plain to see, She says, "That wasn't ever me."
